In 1987, I held an Associate Broker license and sold residential real estate in the Skowhegan area.   Interest rates were north of 12% for regular mortgages but you could buy a decent home for $50,000 or so.  I left the business to pursue other interests but never left the desire to help people with their real estate needs.  My career path took me eventually to a local bank where I started out doing home mortgages and managing branches.  There, I progressed to where I was doing commercial and small business loans.  I retired in 2020 as Regional Vice President of Somerset County.  I was elected in 2020 to the Maine Legislature as the State Representative for the Madison area.   I was reelected to the Maine Legislature in 2022.  I serve on the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.

During my commercial lending career, I was always struck by the numbers of people that had a great idea for a business but didn’t know where to start.  I worked with many local businesses to help them start up or to expand as the need arose.  This involved listening to their needs, looking at their abilities and trying to match up a financing package that would help them be successful.  Having knowledge of the resources available to small businesses is helpful in getting things started.

As a Realtor, I plan to work primarily with small businesses and commercial folks to help them achieve their goals with their businesses.  I’m an experienced lender and that experience will help me structure deals with potential buyers that should be attractive to financial institutions.  I can work with Sellers to determine the best possible pricing for their business by bringing over 20 years of lending and business development experience to the table.
